My Journey to BLISS (literally)

I married Haden Joseph Bliss on August 23rd, 2024 and it was probably the best day of my life.
Bliss is defined as “perfect happiness” or “great joy”, and I can confidently say that Haden Bliss has indeed brought more bliss into my life than any human to walk the earth (other than Jesus of course).
Our story didn’t start out quite like I thought. But I have come to find that when we put God’s will at the forefront of our minds, bliss is inevitable.
We met at General Conference in Salt Lake City, a worldwide church broadcast put on twice a year by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was very excited to go in person and super focused on the messages, and little did I know the boy sitting next to me was everything I not only needed but wanted too. I thought he wasn’t. I now see that I for sure judged him way too harshly.
He leaned over and said, “Cami, I didn’t think girls like you existed.”
My face went bright red.
He didn’t even know me. I thought he said this to every girl.
We go on what seemed to be the perfect date. Stargazing at a cabin. Dirt biking. Kayaking. Everything fun you could think of. However, I was in denial of ever liking this boy. Still thinking he says sweet things to all the girls he meets. I kept my distance and eventually he came back into my life at all the right times with too many non coincidence moments for it to be anyone else. He was FUN. He was CUTE. He eventually became MINE.
He took me to the Taylor swift movie and screamed the songs at the top of his lungs with the 4 year old girl behind us.
He drove an hour and a half to pick me up for a date.
He took me to a dinosaur museum and geeked out over biology.
He expanded my views on life and made me feel good about just wanting to be a mom.
He bought me a Jesus painting.
To say dating and marriage was the best is an understatement. However, that doesn’t mean it didn’t come with hardships. We think everyone around us has the perfect relationship, the perfect marriage, or the perfect dating story. However, I know we all experience struggles and people just don’t talk about them. You have to let go of doubts, insecurities, and trust in not only God but another mortal imperfect human when you already feel so imperfect yourself. But that is what makes marriage so holy. So beautiful. And so rewarding. It is the best way to understand our God and our future potential in His kingdom. It is the best way to bliss. (Literally in my case haha)
I have been married for 5 months today, and looking back throughout the past couple of years, I see how God prepares us through the people He places in our paths and the challenging experiences He gives to us if we are willing to receive them. He prepared me for my dino loving blissful bestie in the smallest of ways through my childhood and teenage friends and the random people I have met throughout my life. God has shown me that with Jesus on your side, there is no need to fear. The choices are yours to make, and He is cheering you on. The bliss of love will comes when you release your fears and allow trust to fill the spaces where doubt once lived.
With LOVE,
Cami Grace Bliss
